Taous R. Dahmani

8 Nov - 2:30PM to 3:30PM Auditorium Level 1 Taous R. Dahmani is a PhD fellow in the Department of Art History at the Panthéon Sorbonne University (Paris 1). She is doing a thesis in history of photography under the supervision of Prof. Michel Poivert and teaches the history of 20th century photography. She is more specifically interested in the encounter of visual studies with migration studies. Her research focuses on the relationship between photography and immigration in England in the second half of the 20th century. It questions the forms that photography takes in contexts of struggles for rights during the 1960s and 1970s in London. More particularly, her thesis questions the power of photography to construct and deconstruct dominant narratives on the subject, extending her analysis to the representation of struggles and the struggle of representations.
