Foreign Landscapes
“Foreign Landscapes“ is a collection of photographs depicting hazy, mystical but colorful shapes and forms, which remind of wide natural landscapes. Each photograph has its own strange atmosphere, while all of them share the tension between harmony and undefinable matter. Therefore, the images create a surreal world, which can neither be grasped nor defined, leaving the viewer as a stranger with the desire to enter this foreign micro cosmos. To illustrate my relationship to my older brother, who is a successful business consultant, I took photographs of his recent diagrams, statistics and charts, which he works on every day. Those colorful forms and graphics are normally used to simplify and show complex financial relations and data as precise as possible. The Process of photographing these presentations and composing new images, cuts loose all of the intended functionality and sense. Hence, they were brought into a new aesthetic context, in which they become my approach to enter my brother‘s world as well as my expression of skepticism and distance.
Biographie
Depuis ma naissance en 1995 à Hambourg, en Allemagne, j'ai toujours eu la passion de la musique et des instruments, ce qui m'a amené vers le monde de l'écriture, du dessin et de la photographie. J'ai bien sûr commencé à créer assez tôt, mais j'ai découvert la photographie en tant que médium artistique à l'université du Bauhaus. J'ai beaucoup voyagé en Europe de l'Ouest, aux États-Unis, en Indonésie, au Panama et en Nouvelle-Zélande, pour découvrir que la communication et la conscience sont essentielles à toutes les impressions et expressions ; elles sont donc des moteurs de ma démarche artistique. En mars 2017, j'ai participé à la résidence d'artistes du Studio Vortex menée par Antoine D’Agata, qui a eu une influence remarquable sur ma relation personnelle à la photographie et ma présence en tant qu'artiste. Je suis actuellement mon 4e semestre de formation aux arts des médias au Bauhaus, où je me concentre sur la photographie tout en réalisant des projets vidéo et de design sonore pour explorer les relations entre les médias ainsi que leurs possibilités.
